Audition Overview

Admissions Clarification

LaGuardia High School has six studios, and applicants will receive an offer for each studio for which they have a qualifying audition score. This means that students may receive an offer to multiple studios.

Fall 23 Virtual Open House

Application Submission Deadlines

APPLY BETWEEN OCTOBER 3 - DECEMBER 1, 2023

The 25 DOE high schools that offer audition programs all use the same common audition components across programs in the same arts discipline (such as visual art or dance). This means that if you want to apply to, say, three dance programs, you would only need to submit one dance audition.

High School Applications open October 3, 2023. All Applications must be submitted by December 1, 2023.

The deadline to submit auditions and other assessments is also December 1, 2023. Students will submit virtual auditions through the Additional Materials tool in MySchools. To receive an offer to LaGuardia, students must have a documented final grade from last school year of at least 65 or the equivalent in each core subject (ELA, math, science, social studies).

Students submit virtual auditions  (and assessments for some screened programs) online directly through their MySchools account.

What Happens After I Apply?

Once you apply and submit your audition materials on MySchools, you wait!

Some students may be invited to a callback. Students are invited to a callback if additional information is needed.

Some students invited to a callback do not receive an offer, some do; some students not invited to a callback do not receive an offer, some do.

In March, students who applied to any New York City Department of Education high school will receive one offer letter from the Office of Enrollment. If a student receives one (or more) offers from LaGuardia, the offer will be on the offer letter. Individual high schools do not communicate offers to applicants.

Please do not reach out to individual high schools to inquire about the status of your application.
